i've been wanting one of these since they came out. I love the sound of my V7, but the only M7 I've seen is Jauqo's M7 which is a custom one off, I think... His is a maple neck...
So for those that own or have spent quality time with one what are you're thoughts
Really curious to hear

I was one of the earlier people to get an M7 on the forum...I also no longer own it...My thoughts on it were this:

(Positive) It was most definitely a Swiss Army bass and was able to do some things my G&L ASAT couldn't, which is what I use to benchmark Swiss Army basses. It definitely had a wide variety on its pallette...

(Negative) Unlike the V7, which really is made decent, the M7 looked and felt like a budget Indonesian bass (sans the top). Its Jazz sound was decent in the studio, but I thought it failed in the smattering of live situations I used it in, and went back to the V7. Its possible I didn't give it enough time ( a few weeks/handful of gigs) but I thought I did - It had decent punch and articulation but it didn't have the punch and articulation that the V7 had ( the M7 was 'woodier'), even in single-coil and parallel modes (and I use roundwounds). I may have kept it if I didnt own the V7 as a comparable but the V7 is just an incredible bass- The V7 truly lived up to its hype; my M7 did not

(Bottomline): I play with roundwounds and Im a very modern sounding player ( although I can chameleon a lot, tonewise). I was benchmarking the M7 vs. the V7 and my ASAT, and thats tough competition. It is a good bass with a lot of wonderful sounds but I didnt think it competed with those other two basses and it lost points for looking and feeling like a budget import...Had it had that punch and articulation the V7 had, i may have kept it despite the 'cheapness' of its looks and feel..conversely, if it was made really well and sounded the way it did, i also may have kept it... but because it came in second place on both accounts for my needs, i decided to part with it

The M7 was replaced by a much more expensive instrument, a USA Fender American Deluxe Jazz V --- I still opt for my V7 over this bass for my Jazz bass needs

Wait...how can Sire create a custom M7 with maple neck? That looks so nice.
I think that was actually late in the prototyping stage before they finalized the official M7 model line. But they do some custom requests, that's how lefties and fretlesses are handled. I don't know if they would consider doing custom finish options not offered on the standard models, but it probably wouldn't hurt to ask nicely. ;)

I just talked to J, his is a custom. But as a rule they don't want to do that but did for a endorser and friend ...

As I'm trying to help with sons wedding so It might be a while before I can leave my review....
