I have been looking a lot into the Sire P5 basses. Specifically the 5-string version.

Does anyone have experience with them? I know they were sort of a hot commodity a while ago, but it looks like multiple sellers have them in stock now.

Is there any difference from the first batch to consecutive batches? I know the biggest knock on these was the pickup. Has that been improved at all?

Overall, what is your general opinion on these basses? They seem to be an excellent value for the price!

Just bought the mild green 4 string, it's amazing!!! It sounds great, really clear and punchy, I also have a Fender elite 5 string and Sandberg vm5 and the sound is on par and I'd dare to say sounds cleaner/clearer than those two(yet sounds powerful as a PBass should sound). I'm not sure how the B string sounds on the Sire P5 since I wanted to go classic and simple with a 4 string but Ive seen other reviews saying its good. Oh and I got several compliments on the color and turquoise pickgaurd :D Cheers!

I recently went ahead and purchased the 5 string Mild Green. I always have wanted to try a P Bass and a five string, so why not both? Lol. It should be coming in on Thursday and I'm very excited. It's a beautiful instrument online, which means it's probably gorgeous in person.

I'm gonna be stringing it up with flats immediately, but how are the stock strings?

Awesome! I have the Sandberg VM5 which is basically a PBass with a Musicman style Humbucker its a 5 string so I wanted to have a 4 str. "backup" (which doesn't sound as a backup in any way haha Its got such an amazing sound to be alongside my MIA Fender and German Sandberg as a primary bass)

Stock strings are D'Addarios Regular Lights they sound pretty punchy and since they're new kinda bright but after a week they settled a bit to a good warm tone and I also use a gruv gear fretwraps on my basses to get a round sound.

And Yes! I was gonna get a Sunburst or Red but they were outta stock but I'm glad they were, Im lovin the mild green! Its unique specially with the turquoise pickguard it pops out, most light green basses have black or white pickguards which is meh compared to the mild green Sire P5 :)

Just got it couple days ago. Played a gig today. Loving it so far. It is little neck heavy due to light body weight.

How does your Sire feel compared to your Sandberg and Fender? I have both, but the Jazz versions.

Congrats! Get yourself a set of Gotoh GB528 tuners in a 4+1 config in nickel finish and you'll fix the balance once and for all! I have a video on the process for the P5 5 stringer, it's very simple and doesn't require any drilling. Took my P5R with flats to a band rehearsal last night and had a lot of fun.
