Double Bass Sirone's Bass

I was just wondering if anyone knows about the maker/history/origins of Sirone's bass. It was a very peculiar instrument, and I never had a chance to ask him while he was living about it. He's a truly fantastic player with a fantastic sound, and I always wondered about where this instrument was born and bred.

It MIGHT be a Klotz or Pollman but most likey an old Rubner (attached)

This is my favorite and most revisited CT albums, mainly for the lengthy piano trio sections with RSJ & Sirone.
