I'm in between about getting a mini HOF or an ehx Holy Grail neo. do you have a preference? i've heard the mini hof doesn't cut your low ends, but i haven't been able to find much on the neo (or see it in a store).

please don't lecture me on why i shouldn't use reverb on a bass, this is mainly for playing church with one other guitar player so i think it'll help fill the space some during particular songs. also, i play guitar as well so i'd love to have something that can work on electric or acoustic, too.

what smaller "mid priced" reverb pedals do you guys like?

I like the Malekko Spring (the small pink pedal), a good spring reverb sound that I use on bass and acoustic guitar. But my favorite reverb pedal is the Catalinbread Talisman, which does a fantastic plate reverb (think Pink Floyd).

In either case, the mix knob is a must for bass and acoustic guitar for me.

I had an EBS Dynaverb. Nice pedal. Modestly priced, if you find one used.

I havent tried either pedal. But i am a fan of TC pedals and have a few of the full size ones (Delay, Chorus, Flanger and Boost). Given your options i would take the HOF mini for the simple reason of the tone print gives you so many options to change your reverb on demand plus you can go in and edit your own stuff. I just checked my tone print app and it looks like there is over 50 artist prints there to load.

Hof is decent but it's kind of more of a normal reverb, it doesn't have shimmer and the modulation isn't that interesting IMO. Line 6 m5 is affordable but bigger and it has some good reverbs. I used the digitech polara which is even smaller than it looks in pictures on our most recent album. Really liked the modulated setting on that one. I'd say the polara is as small as an mxr or ehx nano pedal. I really want to get my hands on the earthquacker devices afterneath but it's not exactly a typical reverb. I could see it being great for filler though at church though. The mr black eterna gold might be cool for church if that sound is what you have in mind.

Considering you said both small and affordable I would have to recommend the HOF Mini. It definitely does not cut any low end and for only a one knob pedal is surprisingly versatile due to the Toneprint feature. Can get you spacey or subtle depending on which Toneprint you use and where you have the knob set. I would say though that if you're into being able to tweak on the fly then I might look into in the standard HOF though as they can be found used at pretty much the same price as the mini new. But for the size and price the HOF Mini is tough to beat. I've been using it on my board for over 2 years.

I have had Hall of Fame two times. it does sound bad. Wet Neunaber is a transparent reverb. HOF is muddy. It's a plastic garbage. i could not change my mind after second time. on the other hand - i have owned Flashback Delay, Corona Chorus and Vortex Flanger (still have) - they good enough, but Timeline and Mobius have almost replaced them.

As always everyone's opinions on pedals may vary but I have not had the same experience with the HOF Mini as you've had. It's definitely not plastic garbage in my opinion and while I have played others that I liked more (I.e. MXR M300 and Earthquaker Afterneath) for what the op is looking for (small and affordable) I don't think that a $250 pedal is what he's in the market for. While yes I am looking to upgrade my reverb at some point in the future I can't say anything bad about my HOF Mini and will definitely keep it around for a travel board or my guitar board whenever the time comes I get a new reverb. Considering though that a new one can be had for $100 or less and a used can be had to around $50-70 it is tough to beat in this price range. As always though it all comes down to personal preference!

Just try Wet - i believe you will agree with me.

If you like the classic Fender reverb, you CANNOT beat the Boss FRV-1 '63 Fender Reverb pedal.

I play surf whenever possible, so I use a reverb pedal often. I've had a few, and this is THE one! It does everything short of going "splat" when you kick it.

the HOF mini will Do what you program it to do using the TonePrint ...!! it also has a Chorus built in ..!

i programmed mine to have a mild chorus that's always on and stays the same regardless of knob turning ... you can program what does what when the knob turns .. as you can program the reverb volume and decay also ..!

good value Used ... and No , ... you can't have/buy mine ..!

For small and very affordable I'd pick a Digitech Polara over the TC or the EHX.

If you want what I consider the best bass specific but still somewhat affordable reverb, I don't think you can find better than an Iron Ether Nimbus however. Not cheap at $235 list - but a superior reverb that's still far less expensive than a Strymon or an Eventide product which do reverb plus a whole lot more. But they also cost a whole lot more.
