Soul Coughing reunion on Jimmy Kimmel

That bassist is as spot on as he's always been. Frontman looks really really sick of that song..."dad told me to get my MBA but no...I'm still stupid non bon super non bon super bored..."
I didn't get that impression. Doughty wasn't shouting the chorus like he did on the album but then again he's 30 years older and doesn't have the growl in his voice that he did back then. Clean living can do that to ya.
The mix also put the bass way up front and pushed the synths to the back, which also sucked some of the energy out of it.
Mike Doughty has been hard at work for years. I haven’t kept up with the other members, but they sounded solid.
After reading The Book Of Drugs, I was fairly sure a reunion would be unlikely, but kudos to them for making it work. I kinda regret not grabbing tickets to the reunion tour after hearing that.

Soul Coughing is one of my all time favorites. Doughty is a good dude, and great writer and the band are all top notch. Sebastian is an absolute beast on upright and has done some high profile work with other artists, including Fiona Apple. I’m really glad to see them together, even if they are tired of playing the “hits”.
They're playing Seattle and I'm just getting over COVID, otherwise I would NOT miss them. One of my favorite bands.
I loved this as a throwback and was glad to hear the band playing tight, but it did also seem to me that Mike wasn't super into it. Obviously things change with age but to me he always seemed more animated even in his much more "normal" solo stuff.
They sound great! Considering the way Doughty talked about his time with the band, I assumed they would never get back together. They all sound fantastic.
This was great to see and I'm glad they still sound great. I also love that the members have been staying busy with their own projects/side projects. What's puzzling is the setup. It's like "Hey it's the 30th anniversary of the release of Ruby Vroom, let's play a song from a completely different album".
Awyeah! Those 99 lap enduro races with super bon bon, I think I'm paranoid, Dragula and Sex type thing. Good times...
Shows how long it’s been since I’ve listened to Soul Coughing: I would’ve sworn that tune was on Ruby Vroom! And that’s the only Soul Coughing album I own.
I was actually kinda thinking I'd rather have seen them do "Screenwriter's Blues" instead of "Super Bon Bon".
