I have been culling my bass herd, but couldn't sell off my SX without taking a loss, so I decided to refinish in a color I have always liked. Took a 3TSB Ursa 4 jag copy and painted it seafoam green with a matching headstock. (Pic looks blue, but it is green.) Filled in some pickguard screw holes and painted with cheap valspar rattlecan. It isn't perfect, but that wasnt the point. Replaced the pickups and harness with GFS pro jazz quikplug system. Super easy, drop in in 5 minutes. It sounds great. A definite improvement over the stock pickups. I think its a keeper now. I know the relic will rub some the wrong way, but it is what I wanted. Just need a threaded saddle bridge and jazz knobs and she'll be done.

Looks really cool!

If I had to nit-pick, I'd say that the flawless sunburst looks a bit odd through the relic'd blue. Maybe you could sand it a little to get that wood-undercoat-overcoat worn affect. If you're gonna relic, might as well go for it.

Yeah- as said above. The forearm contour doesn't resemble wear or a relic in any form- it just looks like you missed a spot. You'd need to work on both the sunburst area underneath and where the refinish meets it.

I agree that the sunburst doesn't match "true relic", however I have found that scratched up poly just looks like scratched up poly. I will wear that area by actual use I guess. My goal with this project was to get done in under a week. I have heard from several who don't like the 3tsb coming through, but I like it so imma rock it. I appreciate the opinions and critiques however.
