I'd never measured the specs on my Squier VM 70 before and contemplating how different the Ibanez BTB675 was from it. So I started measuring. The first thing I found was both basses have 19mm string spacing at the bridge. Then I started measuring string spacing at the nut and first fret. I thought it only fair for comparison purpose to really look at strings 1-4. So I did... and I've posted a photo showing the two, side by side both at the nut and at the first fret. I was very surprised at the results.

They're both ~1.125" inside of g to E, but the BTB has a tunable thumbrest that spans the playable length of the bass. Sweet.

Funny. The point of the exercise was to see if I could determine if I would grow into the BTB. I was shocked that from the string spacing at the bridge and the string spacing G to E at the nut and first fret were nearly identical. I never would have thunk it from feel. I know neck shape and width will affect the way my thumb and rest of my left hand operate so the difference in feel may be what's happening on the back of the neck, not on the fingerboard. Should be interesting.

I'm going to have a Yamaha TBRX605 in a couple days to try and compare. Stay tuned.
