Double Bass Starting to Carve the Front

I suggest center out high to low, pay close attention to the feel of the grain as you pare it. It should show you how it wants to be cut. Make sure your tools are kept very sharp. If you have templates for your center line profile , and upper middle and lower bouts that's where you are headed, just remove everything that isn't your plate. I'm sure someone will be along soon to tell you the proper way.

This would be the made from Lowes Spruce blank? And not Lowes Spruce you bought 5 years ago and set aside to dry?

Warpage is not exactly shocking if so.

It's kiln-dried framing lumber, there are residual stresses which may be released when you remove parts of the wood, and the even-ness of the drying is not exactly great to begin with, typically.
