Sterling Bass For Metal??

A Sterling will absolutely work for ANY genre. It all depends on if it’s a sound YOU like. I however believe it depends more on the guitar players tone what bass/tone will work best in a mix, but I see no reason why a Stingray or Sterling wouldn’t sit great in a metal band.

I've been thinking of buying a sterling by music man recently, but is it any good for metal? I want something versatile for different tunings too. Please share thoughts

The Sterling Stingrays are awesome basses and will fit any style. I have the Ray4. Funny thing about Stingrays is I hate how they sound when I play them by myself but in the mix with the pop punk stuff I’m currently doing, it sounds amazing.

You will want this instead...

1993 Conklin Boomerang

Or this.....
I mean.... what more metal than this!?

If you want something for alternate tunings that can remain playable when down-tuned I would recommend you get something that has some sort of reinforcement in the neck, such as Graphite, Titanium, or Carbon fiber.
Others options are something with a roasted neck or quartersawn neck, which tend to also be stiffer than ordinary necks.

The stiffer the neck, the easier it will be to down-tune w/o making the instrument unstable to play.
