How do you deal with straining your hands and fatigue while walking for an extended period of time?

I usually use turmeric but it hasn't been readily available since I've gotten to university.

Any preventative measures you take?

Treatment etc.?
 
There are only two cures I know of: practice and hydration.

Practice. The only way to be able to play a four hour dance gig, is to work up your practice time to four hours. If you only practice for thirty minutes, then expect to be able to perform for thirty minutes. Consider a marathon runner: you think that’s the first time he’s running 10K?

Hydration. Cramps are usually caused by lack of hydration (barring any medical reasons like pulmonary issues). Drink lots of water before and during performance. Not soda or alcohol—water.
