Stratosphere tort pickguard?

Thinking of putting a tort pickguard on my black 1996 MIM Standard Precision. I tried this many years ago and ended up with a cheap looking faux tort print pickguard from mighty mite that is presently in use again, under a nice coat of silver hammered spray paint. Now I want tort again.

I've heard good things about Stratosphere pickguards. Here's my question...

1) Anyone tried their PBass pickguards on a 90s MIM P?

2)Anyone have any advice regarding the red vs brown tort on a black/rosewood instrument?

3)anyone seen both colors in person?

Is the top layer translucent plastic with actual swirls of color or just a flat printed surface that looks like tortoise shell?
