Hello,
I recently purchased an American Professional P bass. Lovely bass and plays great, but the person I bought it from obviously used the wrong size tool on the truss rod. I can still get it to turn, but the sides are rounded down and I'd rather replace it before it gets to the point where I can't get it out. I've attached it photo, but it's hard to tell.
My question is, do I simply use the same Fender hex Allen wrench that came with the bass to turn the nut anti-clockwise until it comes off (after removing the neck first of course)? And won't unscrewing the nut add a huge amount of relief and bend the neck? If so, do I have to do it slowly with breaks or do I just go for it?
Also, is this the right nut for the American Pro basses?

Is there anything else I need to be aware of?
Thanks!
