I just did a studio session today with a friend of mine who plays harp.

I asked the engineer what microphone(s) he liked to use for DB. He said either the Neumann or the Korby - both $5000 microphones. He also said he'd like to take a DI from the bass which he took from the Ischell XLR jack.

In comparing the two in the control booth later they both sounded very good, but somewhat different. The expensive Korby had a more flat response, the Ischell was a bit scooped in the mids with more top AND bottom frequencies. This was with the Ischell set flat with no rollof.

I liked the fatter low end the Ischell had, probably not as 'acoustically honest' but a nice full sound that I like to use in live settings.

The engineer preferred mixing both signals, he felt it brought the best of both.

Interesting to learn that the Ischell could at least play in the same league as a professional studio mic.

Most decent microphones will work in a session provided the engineer good. I've been using the Remic Red by itself in our most recent session and it sounds great. I'm glad to hear

that the Ischell will work in that appilcation. The microphone that I love using for bass in the studio is a Peluso CEMC6
