Hi guys! New guy here from the Philippines.

I recently sold my pimped out SX P-Bass to pay some bills but now that I got some spending capacity again, I wanna get a new bass

But I'm kinda looking for something different

I was wondering if you guys can suggest something that looks cool (I particularly like the Peavey T40 but it isn't readily available where I live)

Looking forward to what you guys would suggest and happy holidays!

Welcome to the board!
You might like the Ibanez Talman TMB 310 (pictured) or 310 basses…$300 or so.
(You can also step up to the TMB 600…$550. They come with Nordstrand Pickups and an active/passive switch.)

The neck isn't the typically thin Ibanez neck but it's not wide enough to notice.
I really like the sound of this bass with D'Addario black tapewounds…can't stand factory strings but the ones that came with it weren't bad.
I never had any use for Ibanez basses until I tried this one. One of the better $300 basses made.

The TMB 600 is even nicer. The Nordstrand pickups take it to a whole new level and the option to go fully passive is a big plus.
Where the 300/310 series basses come in seven or eight colors, the 600 is only available in natural or transparent white…not a problem for some people, of course.

Sounds exciting! Never tried an Ibanez bass so will look forward to trying it out

@arrow_why Welcome to TalkBass! My suggestion is to visit some local stores and test different basses.

Actually, in which area of The Philippines are you? There’s a custom builder in Quezon City who made me a 6-String Fretless. Check out the work of Jon dela Cruz. Look up Guitar1CustomShop on Facebook.

Hi there! I live in Quezon City so Guitar1 is a reasonable option. But honestly, I've no clue which shape would excite me. The only other bass that looks cool to /me/ is the Peavey model I mentioned in my original post. I'm essentially farming ideas/hoping one shape/bass would catch my eye

Hey, thanks! I've been lurking for quite some time here and my registration has been long overdue lmao

Anyway, those are some funky looking basses! But I'm honestly looking for something along the lines the Peavey T40 or (I know it's F but it looks cool) maaaaaybe a Jaguar

For all many F shaped out there there's plenty non-F shaped. Dean sell quite a few,Peavey have the Grind and PXD models,BC Rich definitely don't fie the F shaped mold. Then there's semi-hollows or single cuts.

Can't go wrong with an Epi T-bird like the shown above :)

There's a lot of non-fso's out there. We could probably help more if you said what you wanted it to do. If you're looking for something like the P you probably wouldn't regret the Ibanez Talman or MTD CRB.

I'm soon to be in the market for another vintage Peavey so I can definitely ditto the 40, if that quasi-Fender style is ok then I'd also suggest getting one of these Curbows since they're different, name-designed, inexpensive yet well made, play and sound great, plus only a fewbodys have caught on...
I have one coming in a week. Cort Curbow retro 4 string Bass Guitar Tobacco Sunburst Finish | eBay
flip the truss rod cover over to plain black and it looks even better!

I don't have a particular bass sound in mind. Do I want something out of this world? No, not at all. how it looks is more important to me 'cos I'll be taking it to gigs and be practicing with it and I know having an attractive instrument helps.
