Synth + HPF?

I have some experience playing around with HPFs (although I don't currently have one) but I'm a n00b with synthesizers. Fortunately, I have a couple synth nerd friends who have been talking me through the basics of programming my C4 and I'm having a blast.

My question is about combining the two on my pedalboard. The synth patches I've been playing with have a much more prominent fundamental than playing clean and many have sub octaves. Is putting a HPF after the synth going to suck the breath out of the beefier patches? Any guidance from those using the two effects together?

Only if you have the HPF set too high. However, anything below 50Hz isn't usually registered in our ears as anything more than a dull thud and just burns through your watts and heats up your speaker coils to produce it. I use an EQ2 on my pedal board output. I dial in a +15db Shelf slope at around 35hz (0.5 Q) and then tweak the 58Hz slider a bit too so I see a flat response on the desktop interface and a steep roll off from about 50Hz onwards.

I guess that makes sense. There's still going to be plenty of harmonic content and I'm not playing house music or anything... Thanks for cementing my decision to buy one for the board!
