My wife and I were running errands the other day. She was driving, and, since I had left my phone at home, I decided to peruse TB on her device. To say the least, the user experience was abysmal for her (a non-supporting, non-Adblock user [ie. A guest]).

Way too many ads, half page ads, popup ads, and long load times for even a simple thread, etc. I don’t say this as someone trying to be overly critical. I understand ads bring revenue to the site and help enable it to be financially viable. As someone who is a lifetime supporting member, I do have concerns if the non-supporting member iteration of the site is too anti-user friendly and might discourage folks from trying TB, let alone joining it.

I did not take any screenshots, but I would recommend anyone to try and experience the “base” site after logging out and turning off ad blocker. I’m more than happy to be told I’m “wrong” in this instance, but as I discovered this experience almost entirely by accident, I thought it was worth sharing as I do have genuine interest in seeing this site be successful.

Lord knows, most times I have seen people try to criticize the site, esp the recent changes, people who evidently know how to use
it get their panties in a twist. It must be like a lot of things, “it’s really use to use when you know how to do it.”

Well….yeah….
