Tapewounds: Nut slots modification, Is it worth it?

Just want to try a Tapewound set but since they are larger i should trim the nut in order to make more room in the slots...

For anybody that did it,

can you keep using the same nut if you come back to a "normal" set?

Because my custom bass have an extremely small spacing im using a custom nut, so it would be a pain to make another one..

They are the same length as rounds... Just some tapes have heavier gauges... Those are Rotosound and LA Bella standard gauges.

The 50-105 sets from LA Bella and Daddario should fit without modifications. Just make sure while stringing up the strings do not rest in the nut and possibly grab on while being tuned to pitch.

I have gone back from BEAD to EADG. No problems.

Never modded a nut for GHS, Fender or Rotosound tape wounds.

D'Addario tapes are around .50-.105 so you don't have to modify the nut.

If you file the nut for tapewounds, the size difference is so small that you can go back to regular strings no problem
