TB Bassists who sing lead videos

There was a thread this past week where a member posted a video of his band and he was singing lead. A lot of people complimented him on that feat and said how much they enjoyed seeing bassists sing. So I thought a thread of "TB singing bassist" videos might be interesting.

I'll kick it off with a crappy facebook live stream of my dive bar band NIGHT SHIFT. There a normally four of us and we all sing lead. In fact we all sing the same amount of songs in a night and sing in rotation. (The keyboard player is a friend of the Lead Guitarist and is just sitting in with us for the first time.) The Drummer's wife shot the video so that's why you see so much of him!

Here it's my turn and I'm singing the lead on "I'm Tore Down". I wish we had video of some of the harder songs I sing like "Light My Fire" and "I'm Your Captain".

Some very different styles on here, so why not put this up and maybe bring some life to the thread. I sing lead on the first song anyway.

July 2017, Lake Superior can still surprise you with some cold weather. It was about 45 degrees and rainy that night so we were moved from the outdoor gazebo to the indoor back up spot. Still a fun night.

I've been thinking about telling this story on TB, and this is as appropriate a thread as any...

In early 2017 I "started" a classic rock cover band (actually it sort of spontaneously grew out of a few informal jam sessions). Two guitar players, a drummer, and me on bass. We put an ad on C-list for a singer and we ended up adding a female (I'll call her Tina); really solid, tough vocals (did killer versions of Aerosmith, Bon Scott-era ACDC, absolutely killed "Heartbreaker" by Benatar), good looks, great stage presence. We ended up with her doing about 70% of the songs, while I did the remainder. It was challenging at first, but we started out with easy songs and by the end of the year I was getting pretty good at the few token ZZ Top/Joe Walsh/etc songs I was doing.

In January of this year (2018), after our holiday break, we started the group texts again to schedule practice ang get back to working on our setlist. After a couple of weeks, we all notice that Tina is not responding at all. I try calling, and all I get is voicemail. I even tried calling her boyfriend (met him at one of our open jams and got his phone number -super nice, really cool guy), and got the same thing. After 5 or 6 weeks, we figure she must have moved back to where she was from or something, or (heaven forbid) ended up dead or in the hospital without us knowing. Since then, I've been handling lead vocals on all but one song, and it's been a pretty good experience - fortunately the guys are patient and forgiving and I've had the opportunity to really get comfortable at it. Unfortunately I don't have any video, but if we get any I'll post to this thread later.

But that's not the real story...

Sometime in late Feb or early March of 2018 I remembered that I had an email from Tina from back when she tried out, and I thought it might have her full name in it (Tina is a stage name). I look, and I find it, and I put it in Google hoping to find a Facebook page or something that says she moved back. Right away, I see the answer. Guess what happened to Tina?

(to be continued...)
