tech21nyc bass fly rig discussion.

I don't normally post here, just starting to get back into talkbass again. was curious if anyone has tried the bass fly rig version 2 from tech21nyc, if not, why not? I actually have the pleasure of owning one, someone purchased it for me, I love it, so if you don't own it, this may be a good opportunity to ask questions about it if you want to go that rout. always glad to help if I can. one big issue people have is the octiver, now maybe tech21 can fill us in, but as far as I know its an analog octiver, not sure how that's possible, but I do know its more of a divider rather than an octiver and its monophonic, now i've found ways to use it where it tracks quite nicely, what i've found is its in your attack and how you have the range and q set, so its in the fingers and your nob placements. this said hopefully this thread can be useful to some. , may 2022 be a blessing.

I've been curious about the Fly Rig, and I do have a Dug pedal from Tech21, but I've never been tempted enough to try the Fly Rig. The reason I never got there is I ended up with an HX Stomp that I've had since they were released. I just started working with the Darkglass AO Photon, which isn't the same thing, but is proving to work really well.

I don't really need the octave or the chorus. I just need good tone. I'm sure the Fly Rig could deliver that, but I found other ways to get there.

Not sure if this is the model you are asking about, but I use the Sans, and compressor only
Duke

so ultimately you use what works for you, but you mentioned the octave, so yes that's there, but whats really cool is if you disengage the fuzz and the octave but you leave the filter on, you have a plain touch wah. so that's neat, the chorus is beautiful, its very filling and luscious. as to the tonal options, it has the ability to give you the vt bass and also the bass driver di tones Plus if you mix with some other tools say the octofilter section and crank the range up the q down, that gives you some interesting tonal options also. I would be willing to answer questions if you have any. how is the dp3x treating you? ,

I don't use the DP3X much, because the HX Stomp is so much better (for me). I can get a good tone out of it, so if I need something super-compact it will get the call. The issue I have with it is that I can get 1 good sound at a time. If I want a driven tone, I can make a good one, but it doesn't clean up well. If I want a clean tone, I can also get a good one, but those settings don't do so well with the drive section.

Pinnick is not a very clean player, I don't know of any track where he does play clean, to be fare I don't listen to his music so...
