I hadn't heard of them before but I got to play one and was impressed. I googled it but it's not made any more. So why haven't I seen any around- ever? How much did they sell for new? When did they stop making them? What do you think one would be worth used?

Laguna was the house brand for Guitar Center/MF and the designs were brought over by Keith Brawley when he worked at GC. Keith Brawley wsa the former VP of Strategic brands at Fender who then started his own brand, Brawley Guitars - it was unfortunately short lived as Brawley guitars were marketed and sold by Mars Music Stores which went belly up and took Brawley Guitars with it. Unfortunate because Brawley basses were very well made basses for the price range (around the MIM Fender price range)-unfortunately the company was only around for 2 years. I have one of these Brawley basses albeit one of their least expensive models- great bass- all their basses are 35" scale including their 4 string versions. When Brawley Guitars went under, Keith Brawley's next work was as VP of Merchandising at Guitar Center. He brought over his designs for his Brawley guitars and basses GC manufactured them as "Laguna" (not at the same high quality standard as the Brawleys even though the designs of the Laguna guitars and basses were based off them - but to be fair, GC was trying to target the beginners and budget consumers with the Laguna brand). I can't remember how much the Laguna guitars and basses sold for, I would imagine maybe around $300-400? I also can't remember how long Laguna was around, maybe as long as Keith Brawley was there until 2011?

Old thread, but i have a little history. I first saw one at GC sometime in 2007. "MSRP $1999, Our Price $1299." Christmas 2007 I bought a 4 string on clearance for $499. They had RH, LH, 4s and 5s, and i think 4 fretless. I bought a 5 last year "vintage" for $400. from my recent shopping searches, they have a black laminate "square" head, or a fender-ish shaped natural head, both with the 2/3 tuners on the top and 2 on the bottom. IIRC they also had natural or walnut stained? all are neck thru, Hip shot tuners, brass nut, Bad Ass bridge, Bartolini pickups; active/passive switch; 3 band EQ, volume, and pickup selector knobs. Hope this helps.
