The 10 Oddest Things John Lennon Asked George Martin to Do for Beatles Albums

Might be old to everyone else but this video gives a pretty good idea what the studio session for A Day In The Life was like. In addition to members of the Stones etc, I think Monkee Michael Nesmith is in there for a second.

But George Martin struck me as being unusually agreeable. He even apologized to George Harrison after the Beatles broke up that he hadn't given George more opportunities to be more a part of the Beatles music and that that had been a mistake.
Well he knew what he was doing much of the time...

I find it amazing that "making it" in this business requires so many fortuitous events to occur. I never knew until recently (I enjoy and respect the Beatles but am not a rabid fan.) how much George Martin shaped their music.
As talented as they were they found their muse and he was able to translate and interpret their ideas using a medium they had very little or, in some cases, zero knowledge of. Without him one could seriously question if they would have risen to the heights that they did.
