I have a penchant for verbosity, so I will try to just dive right in.
My current rig is a 1973 Peavey Century 120 (60W @8ohms, 100W @4ohms) into a 600W, 8ohm Carvin Redeye 4x10. I'm getting ready to start playing in a band with a couple of friends, and I'd like to protect my poor antique Peavey from traveling/gigging. I figured I'd save space in my compact sedan and get a class D head.
Here are my desires/requirements:
1. Nothing that will overpower the Carvin (again, 600W AND 8ohms). I don't mind the weight of it, the casters are rock solid, and I just think the scruffy thing looks bad@$$! A 4ohm-capable head isn't out of the question, obviously.
2. I know there are a few newer ones on the market, but I like my gear like I like my cars: purchased after some sap has eaten the depreciation.
3. I love the sound of my Peavey. I just need something less roadworn and obviously louder. If there's any Class D head that really shines with that mid-heavy clank and grind, then it's probably the one I'm looking for.
4. It really needs to take pedals well, as we are forming a sludge/stoner/doom band, and I use lots of fuzz.
Thanks for muddling through my venal ramblings. And TIA for any advice.
