Dear Bassheads

I have really upped my game in the last few years working on my own teaching myself plenty of new things, I now undersstand music in general in many ways that I did not before. However I have reached a point where I think I need some really focused practice period, hard work and above all accountability in order to get me to the net level.

I have some money saved up and would like to find a top class bass teacher (Im really talking top of their game here, I want to find somebody who is a top session kind of level and also a very experienced teacher otherwise I dont see the point right now) to give me some accountability and focused goals to get me to where I want to be.

I live in Brighton, UK so preferably the person would be within 50 miles or so from here (London is OK). I would be up for at least one lesson a week, possibly two.

I would also be interested in the idea of travelling further afield (internationally included) to study for an intense 2 or 3 week period for example with the right person.

If anyone can recommend anyone that might fit the bill I really would be very grateful for any advice

Many thanks

Thanks for the tip! I mean yeah I absolutely love Victor Wooten, would kind of be a dream come tru to go there, I'm just thinking it would cost me so much for just a 5 day course and the transport there (about £800 for course at least £500 flights) thats pretty much all my savings ... Im just wondering how much I could really learn in a 5 day course to justify that expense, wondering have you done the camp or know anyone that has?

Scott’s bass lessons online. I believe they do one on ones for the extra dough.
Good pricing and high quality instruction.

Thanks , yeah I am actually a member of SBL and it's great, only thing is I think I need some accountability, and someone to say THIS is the thing to work on next have it done by next week etc, however yeah maybe I could look into the one on one thing, actually im gonna head over and research that now, cheers!

Update: I dont think they do one on ones... I think they occasionally do this thing called the practice accelerator which is a course where a group of people work through the same course of lessons at the same rate and have accountability in that way... But I think I also want something that an expert specifically tailors to me and my needs.

It seems that Carol Kaye the session legend offers one to one skype lessons for only 55 USD though in other news... I may check that out!

If you're in Brighton anyway, why not nip into BIMM and ask if they know of any teachers who can do you some private lessons?

There's always the Bass Dept at GAK as well, they should know of someone locally.
