Thomastik Infeld Jazz Rounds - Jazz Bass

Did you raise your action at all after you started using them?

I’m debating whether I raise my action or just try to make my right hand more gentle.
I’ve been playing them exclusively for years now. I have very low action and play with a very, very light touch. You can do the same if you put in the time. The only thing is it ruined normal strings for me. Anything else feels like it has super high tension.

The funny thing is, my other bass is a Precision with Rotosound SH77 strings that are like playing rebar. The e string is a 110.

Put them on my Jazz Bass Recently ! My favorite roundwounds totally different then anything else !!!!

These are indeed wonderful strings---if you don't play like like you have to force sound out of the strings. I play lightly so It's not a problem. They are a problem solver string for me. When I have a bass that needs some thickness and really fat mids without being honky, they are my go to string on basses that tend to sound a little hollow. In fact, I don't recall trying them anything that didn't sound good. Learning to ease up in playing will reap great sonic rewards--or raising the action a tad.

Bumping the thread because of my new-found interest in the strings.

Gorn, how long is the typical period of time in which these strings sound their best? I've had the TI flats on for years and until they're dead (as in, do not intonate anymore), they're good. But what about the rounds? I don't expect similar longevity at all, just asking. How often do you change strings?, would be another way to put this question. Thanks!

I'm not a working musician but I do play every day, more or less and they've been on my bass for at least five years. They're not at all dead or dull and intonate fine.
