Thought I had a deal on a SD Quarter Pounder P

I was on another forum, and a guy had posted a thread looking for a cheap P pickup for a cheap P bass. I sent him a PM saying I was going to upgrade my Squier Affinity to a Seymour Duncan Quarter Pound P pickup, and he could have my old Squier one for whatever he thought was fair. He wrote back that he had a used SD QP and would want $40 plus my original pickup in trade.

Why sure!

Then he "wanted to make sure I was happy with the deal", and was going to take some pics. Said the logo was partially rubbed off. I said I didn't care about logos. A couple days later I still didn't have the pics, so I messaged him regarding that and if he would be happy with a USPS Money Order.

He wrote back the next day that he found an MIM to put it in and was going to keep it.

I know I was getting the way better part of that deal, and can only assume he figured that out. Either that or he's a flake. I grew up that when you said you were going to do something you followed through. A man's word is his bond sort of thing.

not a super great price either, to be fair. your pickup could go for $10-15 at the lowest, and you can find SPB-3s for $45 shipped in the classifieds. sounds like you came away a winner

Yeah, I think most of us were taught to keep our word. Really annoying when people don't. I had agreed to buy a guy's Ampeg cab about 15 months ago. This was a Kijiji listing and I agreed to pay his price. He said fine and while he wasn't at home but would be home in a week. Believe he was visiting relatives during the Holiday Season. He said he would contact me when he got back. A week plus a few days goes by and I don't hear from him so I send a friendly reminder email. Gets back to me and apologizes and will contact me the next day or so when he has his plans figured out. Well, you can guess what happened next. Nothing, that's what! No contact from him. I gave up. Simply sent him an email saying it looked like he had changed his mind which was fine and if he changed it again that would be fine and he could email me.
