Thunderbird pick up question

So I bought a 2013 Gibson thunderbird this weekend because.....GEAR....and I want to replace the place covers on the pickups with the old style chrome plated kind.

Is this just a simple thing where I unscrew the old one and put at chrome cover on it, or is it more involved in that?

Nope. Details are in the Thunderbird Club thread, but the chrome covers are exactly the same size as the pickups in your bass, so you have to somehow make yours a bit smaller, to fit inside the chrome bits. Some have used a sharp knife to peel the outer layer off, and others (if I recall) used a file or aggressive sandpaper.

I was really hoping that it would be easier than that. But I guess it is what it is.
