Recently I have been listening to a lot of System of a Down and found out that Shavo Odadjian used a 1966 non-reverse bird on their first three albums. However, only grainy video footage of this bass can be found and for the life of me I cannot tell whether it’s a single pickup II model, or double pickup IV model. That’s why I was hoping an experienced thunderbird player could have a listen to these isolated bass tracks and tell me whether it sounds more like a single, or double pickup sound.
Here are is a screenshot of the bass in question, but given that the lighting is low, the bass is black, and his picking hand is in the way, I can’t tell whether there is a bridge pickup or not.
