Well, it is only the third bass string, in over 50 years of playing, that has broken on me. Fortunately, it was at a rehearsal. I have to say though, this was after they have been on the bass, my trusty '65 Jazz, for most of the last 7 years! Every now and again I would take them off and put on a different set just for a test, then invariably decide that I liked the TIs better and put them back on again. They still had a precise, well-intonated tone about them, and I love their flexibility and responsiveness. If one amortized the cost of purchase against the life of the string, the TIs are probably the best value on the market.

Thomastik also has great customer service. I use Jazz Flats on my Roscoe Beck V and my Fender A/E Precision fretless. One time the B string on my Roscoe Beck just didn't quite have the same consistency of tone that I got across the other strings. I called up Thomastik and they shipped out a new B string without hesitation. They did request that I send the old string back to them so that they could have their engineers take a look at it to try and figure out what was wrong. The new string was much more consistent in tone with the others. I think the Jazz Flats are coming on at least 10 years.

Thank you, Thomastik Infield!
