Tidy Jazz Bass wiring!

The fellow who did the shielding sticky has a fairly clean install although it is with a blend control. I bust out some little zipties when I want everything tidy. Admittedly, that is not on every job.

Jazz Shielding Pictorial (Big Images Warning)

That is a cool thread, and some nice wiring in there. I think my problem is that I follow a luthier/tech on Instagram that wires up Jazzmaster pickguards and things, and once he's done its like he's applied tube amp lead dress. Everything is ultra clean. I've not seen a Jazz Bass equivalent to that yet.

Hello. Can you post an example photo?

Maybe this is fair to middling; I don't know what your standard is. But here's one of mine:

I went digging on Instagram and dug up the following photo:

I like the attention to detail with the heatshrink tubing and colour coding, as well as the tight 90 degree turns in the wires spanning the pickguard. It looks like tube amp discipline in a guitar. Total overkill, but I'm wondering what the Jazz Bass version would look like.

Thanks. That is lovely work. I think that the Jazz Bass equivalent would look like that, minus the advantage of the pickups being loaded in the pickguard.

This is what I came up with, before I hooked up the pickups. I 'borrowed' the scheme from a boutique harness builder posted elsewhere on here. The harness I came up with worked great, but one pickup was dead out the box. :crying:

Sorry about the dead pickup. Nothing like a little delayed gratification to help us appreciate the eventual result!

Your work in progress looks nice. Tidy and aesthetic. Good luck getting it completed.
