My band just started using a Touchmix 16 and now that I’m ampless (just using a sansamp programmable). I was considering a HPF solution like Broughton or similar. Will the HPF in the TM eq give adequate results? I’m pretty new to digital boards. Thanks.

Best thing you can do set up the PA and spend some time working with your tone. I've stated it before, but I rarely use a high-pass on bass guitar. Most often if I find things a little bassy I will us a shelving eq to tame things a bit rather than rolling the low end out completely. If you have the chance, having the full PA available (in a decent acoustic space) along with your bass to really spend some time learning how it responds to changes in EQ, shelving, etc. will be a very worthwhile endeavor. Bass is often one of the most challenging instruments to mix and is highly impacted by the tuning of most PA's (e.g. crossover point, gain staging in subs versus tops, etc.) so it can be very educational to hear all of those things work together to impact your sound. If you can beg/borrow/steal a looper so that you can do the knob twisting while 'you' are playing it's even better.

Graphic EQ options on the TouchMix are very good. You have a seperate EQ for your bass channel as well as separate EQ’s for the Aux’s in case you wanted to trim off some low end to to an IEM feed (for example). The graphic EQ can take a minute to understand, but now that I’m used to it, I find it fast and powerful. You have high end and low end roll offs. You can adjust the width of the various EQ ‘zones’. In my opinion, there’s no need for an external HPF.
