Trade: cij 62' jazz bass for classic 70s Pbass?

somebody offered me a trade my cij jazz bass for a classic 70s P bass
the jazz bass is awesome and I love it it also has the US pups and alder body and I was very lucky to pick it up for about half the price they usually go for but i was on a local forum where somebody said they wanted to trade a classic 70s Pbass for a jazz I jokingly said I have a jazz bass so they pm'ed me some pictures and it looks really nice but I love my jazz but also have an amstd jazz
so are these classic 70s really good? is it worth it?

Fake? I doubt it. I have seen one or two natural bodies MIJ Ps. But I know you did the right thing holding onto a CIJ Jazz. Apart from the electrics/wiring, the are just as good as the USA models, if not better, in certain examples.

geez Im very lucky then. do you think its a fake?
To me, the body looks like ash, but I could be mistaken. It could be a refinish, or maybe they swapped a body off a different Fender? It looks like a genuine Fender body, just not the correct color for a Classic 70's P. I own a Vintage White, personally. They're great basses and amazing necks...but that ain't the right color for a stock one.

yeah I agree my jazz is fantastic and its already got the US pups in it and I changed the electronics to a jazz bass wiring harness which
has the CTS pots and switchcraft jack so im very happy with it

I dunno, I'm still out on P-basses. I've had several over the decades - the best being a tarted-up Squire with a refinish and an new harness - but I keep gettign shot of them. I always coveted, as a kid, a '70s P with a rosewood 'board after seeing Pete Way rocking one with UFO back in the day but though I've had around seven of them, I've never really gelled with one enough to hang on to it. Apart from the '77 fretless, but that's another story.

Following, out of interest! :)
