I fancy making a neck with a trapezoidal profile. I know some people have made them and like them. Can anyone advise me on proportions, angles etc?
I dont particularly want to do a fancy 'Strandberg' neck, although I suppose I could. The neck is more or less finished but the section is still rectangular.
Any suggestions? @MPU @Beej @reverendrally

I think I divided the neck width in three equal width parts at the heel and at 1st fret, connected those marks with straight lines and used those lines as corners.
Thanks Marko, that sounds good. I assume the other line is the underside of the fingerboard. On my neck that would make it exactly 45° at the nut. I was thinking I'd then put about a 5mm rad. on those corners.

I've done only a handful of trapezoidal necks and I don't seem to have any pics here. One was more symmetrical like a Toone, but the last two were more asymmetric, like the Sandbergs. From a player's perspective, I'm not a huge fan of them for comfort, but I built them to try it. The symmetrical one I drew two lines down the back of the neck that followed the sides and then filed it back to that line. It wasn't really focusing on hand-feel, more like just function following the form. :)
