wow, this is whacky! there's very little guitar body showing around the pickguard, which is shaped like a strat pickguard. what an interesting guitar, a bit outside the box and under 6 pounds, too.

Not a new concept. There was (can't find an official product page) the ESP GR-PGG - Grass Roots (series) Pickguard Guitar. It probably started with folks rolling, or shaving, their own. Image-search or youtube-search "pickguard guitar" in quotes and you'll see some of them.

Not so very far from this, really...

In both cases, might prove ergonomically dubious (don't know for sure without trying it), but you'll manage if the style suits you, I suppose.
