Truss rod canal free space yes or no?

I continue the last build i started more than a year ago.
I have made the truss rod canal 1-2mm deeper,so in the future if i need to take the truss rod out, will be easy, just pulling it from the front side.
Is this good idea or bad?
Maybe these 1-2mm of air will be more problem with the work of the truss rod?
I can glue a piece of maple to fill this.
I havent glue the fretboard yet.
What is best to do?

I think it's not a good idea, the truss rod may need something to "push against". Double action may be different, one of the experts will surely chime in (subbed for learning).
