I asked recently a TR question, answered brilliantly.
Here’s one I hope can be explained in simple terms…..
I had a Fender US Pro 2 Precision. Previously, I had a couple of Stingrays.
Both newish basses - my band plays in Eb. When I tuned down to Eb, not tweaking the setup, when I returned any of the basses to standard, often the action was quite high…..things had moved, even if the change was brief.
My second bass is now a 2023 American Vintage 2 1960 Precision.
When I tuned down that to Eb, as I did last night and last weekend, it played fine, and when I put it back to standard, the relief was the same as before, no movement.
Can anyone explain this to me? I was worried about selling the Am Pro 2, as the rod was so easily adjustable. But the AV2 appears to be more ‘stable’……is there any science behind this? The AV2 neck is also a little thinner…..
