Tuning problem and nut break angle

Hi Gang,
I have a Fender P5 and am having tuning issues caused, I think, by friction on the string trees due to a steep break angle of the nut. Any ideas?

Yeah, they'll do that. I have the same set-up and the string will hang-up at the retainer contact points.
The break angle is fine.

Lubrication.
Get a tube of graphite powder from the key making section of a hardware store. Squirt it into the nut slots and on top of the strings where they touch the trees.
That'll get things moving more freely. Reapply as needed.

if originality isn't an issue, why not upgrade to something with rollers?
