Very odd 60s "Fender" hardcase...

Hi mates,

just spotted a 1968 Fender Precision bass that comes in this very strange, definitely old, hard case. The seller claims it to be original to the bass, but I have never seen anything like it. Fender geeks out there, what do you think?? Thanks!

Fender didn't start using ABS cases until the late 70's and they stayed rectangular until the mid 90's. AFAIK...
The "for Fender" on the badge says aftermarket SKB or similar to me. Better make sure the bass is real

It might be legit. I don't have the old catalog any longer, but I did have a 1967 (I think) catalog and it had cases that may have been like that. Same catalog had the clear plastic body guards, microphones, solid-state amps, etc.
