Voodo Pedal Power 2 Plus and the AC outlet

First off, I hope this is in the correct forum as the VPP2P is not an effect or pedal.

I bought the above today. The guitar center tech told me it'll be no problem my amp, which has a power rating of 100 watts into the 200 watt maximum rated outlet of the VPP2P. Since the unit is new, and the GC tech explicitly told me (after I asked him twice "are you sure?"), I could do it, I plugged it in. The unit did not get hot or anything and after about an hour of playing everything seems fine. However, the manual says DO NOT PLUG YOUR AMP HERE!

If the VPP2P AC power input jack has a 200 watt max, and my amp is rated at 100W, what can go wrong? Please advise.

Probably fine, but there's a possibility of bricking your PP2+

If the amp goes down, and needs to use the ground line for something that would be life saving, that line is now directly connected through your pedalboard, and much closer to you.

When nothing is wrong, amps also have the need for pulling power for spikes in volume, and likely the PP2+ won't handle it well, meaning your amp won't be at its prime.

Thanks. I thought the spikes in volume would be the problem. Thanks for clearing this up for me.

UPDATE: I contacted Voodoo and spoke with Ben, the tech guy. He assured me that the guy a GC is right and that I can plug up my amp (Night Train 15 combo... 15 watt tube amp) into the PP2 ac outlet. He said they had to put the DO NOT PLUG YOUR AMP HERE! clause in the manual because people were using it to power whole rigs.

On a side note, Voodoo Pedal Power 2 Plus is doing it's job by keeping my pedals (MXR Super Badass Distortion + Way Huge Russian Pickle + MXR Carbon Copy Bright), quiet. Everything is basically noiseless now and I'm happy. Well worth the money if you're looking to purchase an isolated power supply. I'm going to write a review on it after a while if it continues to satisfy.

Never thought about that. Good point. But the one board (my jumbo, stay at home pt-pro) I have a pp2 and then a Furman plug lock 5AC strip into it and mount it under the board. It's great for trouble shooting when you have a pp2 and an easy 5 wall wart spots.

But do let us know how this pairing ages. If you start shooting sparks in a couple months do share! Best of luck and thanks for a new question and new knowledge. Never would've even thought of it, but I also use rack power strips and always have since I went from practice amp to half stack to too much gear. It's not a problem yet, but... it could...
