Seems like the global supply chain woes strike again!

I'm trying to get one of these as a Christmas gift for someone. Yeah, I realize for about the same price I can get a Cioks or similar but I've got my reasons for needing a Voodoo Lab power supply. The X8's low profile looks like it will fit the board I'm building. When I saw Guitar Center showing they were in stock this morning, I pounced only to receive an email a couple hours later letting me know it was a glitch and I would be refunded.

So... Anyone know what's up with this power supply and why it's impossible to find? There's a shop in Canada with them "in stock" but I imagine there will be import fees or something. If anyone has one for sale or has seen one at your local music shop, let me know!

Ordered. I guess we'll find out shortly if it's actually in stock or not.
Just get the CIOKS. They're only a little better but they are a lot smaller and have selectable Voltages and are expandable and they are in stock. Why make it hard on yourself?
Because doing things the hard way is what I'm about. :woot:

This is for the pedal board I've been building for my wife who is all about the goth subculture and all things spooky. On a recent trip to Guitar Center, we were browsing the pedals and she saw a Voodoo Lab power supply in the display case and asked "what's that?" I explained it was a power supply, what they do, etc. and then asked if it caught her eye simply because it has the word "Voodoo" on it to which she said yes. That's why I'm trying hard to stick with Voodoo Lab. I already have an X4 that I intended to use but later decided to extend the board a little. Worst case scenario: I could always get a second X4.

As for Cioks, I do currently own a DC7 -- fantastic power supply! Like it so much that when I once sold it for a smaller power supply (Walrus Audio Aetos, no complaints), I ended up selling the Aetos and got another DC7.

Makes sense.
I actually have an Aetos on one board, I really like the 120V plug for a tube pedal that struggles to start up otherwise.
Sounds like it will be a cool board.

Sorry man. I only googled the X8 since I hadn't heard of it before and that was the link I clicked.

I'm a fellow DC7 user.
No worries! I emailed Long-McQuade in Canada about shipping one stateside but I'm not holding my breath.

The Pedal Power 3 might fit under the board. I'll run home on my lunch hour and take some measurements. Perhaps I can find one used.

If your wife likes that sort of theme try adding a Haunted Labs Frostbite Fuzz to the board you are making for her. I have one of these and it sounds 'scary good', mwahahaha! But seriously, they do sound really good and they come in a little coffin-shaped box, and they are pretty affordable.

I actually have a VVco "AfterLite" out for delivery. It's a coffin-shaped pedal that packs a fuzz and distortion into one pedal. I was eyeing the Frostbite, though, when looking for a spooky pedal.

Funny you should mention that pedal; I was looking at it the other day and almost bought one but decided on an acoustic bass instead. I'm debating whether to get one anyways, but think if I were to get that pedal after just dropping coin on another bass my wife would be using the pedal to store my ashes after she kills me.

How does one pronounce "CIOKS?"
I've heard it pronunciated like "Chocks." :bookworm:

It was delivered today -- just unboxed it a few minutes ago. I'm not even the spooky/goth type but I have to say this is easily one of the coolest looking pedals I've ever seen. BIG shout out to Nik over @ VVco! I uploaded photos to the other thread.

I think I saw a few this weekend at Old Town Music here in Portland. Old Town Music
I'm about to check them out. Thanks!

Long-McQuade in Canada does not ship to the US. They suggested I reach out to a friendly Canadian who might ship it to me. If Christmas wasn't in 10 days, I might.

Today on my lunch hour, I ran home and brought the pedal board with me to work so I could measure it. It looks like there's just enough room to fit a Pedal Power 3 under here. It's not as low profile as the X8 but I should work. With that in mind, after some extensive searching for online retailers with a Pedal Power 3 in stock who also currently have coupon codes, I bought a one from Alto Music for $219, free shipping, no sales tax, and code "YULE15" for 15% off. Grand total was $186 -- $10 less than what I paid both Guitar Center and Musicians Friend this morning for a Pedal Power X8.

:)
