So in early October of 2015 I placed an order for a Modern P-Bass body in a Mary Kaye white finish.

Timeline:

Week 1-4 - No going back :hyper:

Week 5-6 - I've read stories about people who received theirs in only 6 weeks. Hmmm drool

Week 7 - ..... Zzzzzz

Week 8 - cool. Can't wait.

Week 9 - wishful think that it'll be done early (*scoff*) :nailbiting::rolleyes:

Week 10 - Alright! We're in the home stretch! Excited to see my new body sometime next week.:hyper:

Week 11 - Hm okay. It happens, I guess.

Week 12 - Uh-oh! Hope nothing has happened. :eyebrow:

Week 13 - nothing.

95% of reviews for Warmoth are good. I was almost completely sure I would fall into that 95%. What are the odds that my order would be a problem? Well, I'm part of the 5% :roflmao:

I sat here reading about others who received their complex custom bodies even after placing their orders weeks after mine (I'm salty, but not an a-hole, congrats! haha).

I did expect them to give an update around week 12 (what it says on the website) but so far I had to contact them about it.

Has anyone else experienced almost a month's delay? My order is pretty simple, nothing spectacular.

Just disappointed cause I had things I wanted to do with this build but the time has come and gone.
Was hoping it would be done before the new year, but it seems that I won't get any sort of update for a few more weeks.

Ah, feel better now. I understand that this is a first world problem.

Wow. They can't even "pin down a time frame"? That's unacceptable. Especially after all this wait time they should have been bending over backwards to give you any information they could, AND offering some sort of discount or other compensation.

Got an e-mail back today. They said that they can't discount the order despite nearly a month of delay :blackeye:

But they also say it's to be shipped out within the next day or two (sounds oddly familiar doesn't it?).

I want to like Warmoth but I'm not happy with how this order was handled. Period. :cigar:

*it is supposed to be ready to be shipped within a day or two. I don't know when it'll ship.

For my b-day in 2010 my wife treated me to whatever bass I wanted (within reason), so I chose a Gecko Wide5. Paid for it in March 2010 hoping for delivery in May. In June still no bass. Contacted the agent I ordered through and was told that they painted the neck a different color than the body and it would take weeks refinishing it. They offered nothing in the way of discounts or strings or a-n-y-t-h-I-n-g. Long story short I didn't receive that bass until September 2010. It is a beautiful instrument but after they were paid in full in advance it seems like a little honorarium especially on a Gecko, their signature bass would've been in order. I chalked it up to Murphy's Law and from now on "if" I decide to deal with Warmoth again it will be from their bargain bin.:cautious:
I shoulda asked to get the Gecko off :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

I wonder why they are so against refunds/discounts? I've heard other stories that they NEVER give any type of compensation, even in a case like yours; when they mess up. That doesn't make a good impression IMO/IME

And I'm with you on the Murphy's law thing. When I ordered it I thought I'd be apart of the 95% that had flawless transactions. Gosh darn it, Murphy! :rage::D

Rant #I have lost count:

I was interested in having a "custom" control cover made. But had no idea when to order it because of the lack of communication and instruction on how to do so. I was told they can't even ship the thing separately without charging me $25, $7.95 or $32.95 and delaying my order even further. So, because I want the plate I have to wait an extra week for my body

I think the least they could do is ship it separately for me in order to avoid an even bigger delay... Is that too much to ask for? It's like they not trying to make anything right...

Seems to be a very niggardly company when it comes to common business courtesy and customer compensation.

But what do I know about life? :D

When you place your order and pay, do they have a anything about how long it will take? Do they make any guarantees? At a certain point I think I might say "nevermind, cancel the order and refund my money". Of course, if I went through the time to get a custom order, I may not want to cancel it.

I've been thinking about making a custom P with a jazz neck, and I was looking at Warmoth, Carvin, and Fender. Is there anyone else who does customs?

In the email I mentioned the control cavity cover and He said that they can "manage that and they'll take care of it"

I thought he meant take care of it as in "we know your order is nearly a month late and we didn't communicate as we should have; we'll take care of this control plate"

Buuut... Looks like they charged my card for $12 (control plate) without any knowledge to me before hand :bored: (at least it wasn't clear)

I'm done :dead:

*** the email was unclear as to who would be picking up the charge. But the manager sided with the employee. Looks like silly ol me read the entire email wrong :wacky:

USA Custom Guitars does some stuff. I never looked into what they are doing though. If you end up going through Warmoth just beware.
