Warwick Gnome i Pro 600

I really loved my Gnome iPro (the 300w Gnome) and still regret selling it. Great clean tones. It feels/sounds very similar to the clean side of my GK Legacy 800, which is a good thing.

I'm definitely looking forward to trying out this 600w version. I like the additional EQ band, and am curious to hear how well the mid controls are placed/interact with each other.

Agreed, a 300w, 4 ohm cab isn't a great match with this 600w head, but is a great pairing with either of the smaller gnomes!

it seems to be closer to the older Warwick amps. BC80/150 have: 60, 800, 2500, 10000 (but with uneven taper, allowing easier fine-tuning for mids) and it was a pretty usable and natural sounding EQ. 80/600/2500/5000 seems not very far from it, at least the magical 2.5k frequency is back. I'd say, it should be closer to traditional Wick EQ stack than the 3-band Gnomes, and that stack was pretty decent.

strangely, I'm not interested in the big Gnome. a huge 3kg amp without a pre-EQ DI and with a fan and air intake on sides (acceptable for smaller amps, but not really that rackmount-friendly). all resulting in nor compact (competing Eich is 1/2 the weight and size, but frankly at twice the price, which is kinda expected for made in Germany vs made in China product), nor really feature-rich amp. the price is attractive tho, and likely it will sell good, if the time proves it to be reliable.

on the top of this, the older Wick heads often were considered to be underpowered, compared to competition. ProFet, WA, LWA -- whatever. 600W looks massive on the paper, but we'll only know with time if it's loud.

What I find odd is that all of the pictures of the back of the chassis have a voltage switch, but Thomann says it's 230V only: https://www.thomannmusic.com/warwick_gnome_i_pro_600w.htm. The German Warwick site also says that.

probably it got the T3.15A fuse pre-installed, while operation at 120V requires a T6.3A. so without changing the fuse it's indeed set up to operate on 230V only. that's only my guess tho, contact Warwick to be sure, they're usually very helpful.

Any new i Pro 600 users out there?
I just got one. Been playing around with it at home hooked to a GR Bass AT210 cabinet. So far I like. Great tone. Can’t wait to try it on a gig next week. One thing, the blue LED front panel is bright!

I actually have a Warwick Gnome too, that little 200W version.

Cool!
Looking forward to how it performs on the gig!

Considering the price, I'm surprised they aren't more popular.

I was just looking at that cabinet, it looks very nice!

Also Andy Irvine was demo'ing some Sadowsky bass using a Gnome 600 and a Warwick cab stack (unidentified models) and it sounded really good!
I may see if I can find it on youtube and post it here.
