Warwick Wax Management

Hope I can get some help here!

I have an older Warwick, with the natural oil/wax finish. A year ago, I was applying some wax, and I was trying to use up the last of it from the tin. What wound up happening, because the wax was too dry, was that the body has places where there are patches of wax that are too thick and won’t buff out with a cloth. No serious damage, But it must be remedied.

I probably need to “sand” it down with something only barely mildly abrasive. Any advice here?I bought some Howard’s Feed And Wax to apply after I get the old coat removed. Thanks in advance!!!

Don't sand it with anything abrasive! That will ruin the finish. I recommend Windex on soft cloths to soften and clean off the old wax, without harming the oil finish underneath. Then re-wax it. And don't put it on so heavy. I wouldn't use Howard's Feed And Wax; way too thick. It's made to be used as a wax finish on bare wood.

Your Warwick already has a hardened oil finish. It only needs a thin coat of wax to make it shine more and be more slippery. I recommend one of the modern Nano-Waxes that you can get at the auto parts store. Very simple to apply.
