Watch me playing my 1973 Jazz Bass...

...with a nice crunchy tone! ;-)
Last week, I´ve posted a video, featuring my ´75 P-Bass, played through the EBS MicroBass II and MultiComp, with the gain on the MB cranked up.
Today, I´ve tried the same setting with my Jazz Bass (bridge PU only).
I´ve also used the Source Audio Gemini Chorus again, with a quite subtle setting. It´s a great effect, to fatten up the bass tone!
PLEASE watch in HD, using HQ speakers or headphones.
Thanks a lot for watching, stay safe and enjoy yourselves!

CAUTION!!! Contains slap bass!!!

My dear, young man, don't take it too hard. Your work is ingenious. It's quality work. And there are simply too many notes, that's all. Cut a few and it will be perfect.
Thanks for your feedback! ;-)
And for your kind words!
My short and quick videos are very spontaneous, and most of the time, I cut them at the end of my daily practice session. No real concept, no particular goal, but to have fun with a moments idea, mostly based on something that came to my mind during practicing. ;-)
I wouldn't play like that on a gig, or in the studio. In fact, I slap very seldomly. ;-) More than 90% of my playing, is to build the steady and pleasing basement for the band to build on. And I'm more than happy with doing that.
So, in a way, these videos are a bit like a practice dairy, and my playground, not more, and (hopefully) not less... ;-)
As long as a few people watch them, enjoy them, and maybe get even inspired, I'm more than happy with keeping them coming!
So, thanks again for watching, and making a constructive comment! All the best, and stay safe!
And thanks A LOT for the "young man"! *g*

Yeeesss! ;-) I love that musical!
I've been blessed to play the bass for a very nice production of it, some years ago.
I used my 1970 Jazz Bass back then. A bass that I've sold a few years after that. And I've regretted that very badly. Until the baby in this video found its way to me, 4 years ago! We'll never part again! ;-)
All the best, buddy!

I switched from Roto's to pro steels and haven't looked back. The problem i had with Rotosound is that they were good one day and junk the next. It wasn't a tone issue per se, it was an intonation (perceived?) problem. I don't have that issue with the pro steels.:)
Interesting!
Actually, I wanted to give the Rotosounds another try again! It's been quite a while since I've played them for the last time. They are THE classic roundwound string, and they were (a very old set) on my '73 J when I got it. And I really enjoyed the feel and tone of them.
But the ProSteels just seem like the perfect match on my Jazz Bass...

You sound great holding the pocket and being creative. Is that an Ashe body jazz. They are the heavier 70's Jazz basses that sound killer. Too many people think light is better when its really all about the sound.
