So I own a Stagg EUB, which I rarely play on since I have a nice solid acoustic DB which is my main. Since I play mainly jazz pizz and arco with my real bass (Spriocore Weichs) I've been thinking about using my EUB for a more rockabilly/bluegrass (old school jazz) sound.
So I want the Stagg to get a gut-like tone and thump, but I really don't want to spend a lot of money. That's why Ive been thinking of putting on Weed Wackers Premium Steel/Kevlar on the bass which are very cheap for strings. Does anyone here have any experience with that combo? Does it even work? Do you guys have better string suggestions for the same price range?
