Double Bass weird amp / speaker questiosn

Guys,
I know it's weird, and maybe even politically incorrect to ask questions here pertaining to electric bass guitar....it's a different instrument, I know.
however, there is so much LESS drama here and so much more sharing of information and experience that I feel I am much more likely to get an intelligent answer asking the question here.
Okay....here goes......

I have a Rob Allen Mouse fretless with the standard LaBella tapewound strings. I play exclusively with my fingers and thumb (left hand...), no pick.
I want to get the airiest, woodiest sound I can, so I usually end up using my thumb as much as I can right over the heel of the neck.

my question is this. I am looking for the best combination of tone
Here is what I am contemplating:

Amp: either a brand new Ampeg PF50-T or a brand new Acoustic Image Clarus SL-R
Cabinet: Either a Euphonic Audio Wizzy (10 or 12), a Barefaced Bass one 10 or Supercompact (single 12), or an AudioKinesis Hathor 1203.

so, what would you recommend...which combination of Amp and Cabinet would you recommend.

a couple notes about me. I really prefer single speaker cabinets as you might have inferred.
also, I really hate tweeters and I don't care much more for crossovers.

thanks in advance for your advice....please feel free to offer other suggestions.
my only caveats regarding other systems are: all up weight under 20 Kg (44 lbs for metrically challenged)
no tweeters allowed. and I have a slight bias towards all solid state amps.

What are you using now that ain't doing it for you? My Mouse with those strings did the airy woody thing really well with every amp I used it through. I can't comment directly on any of the gear combinations you've mentioned (although I did like the Clarus head a lot with the Mouse and wasn't super excited by the Ampeg both through other cabs) but I really like the Markbass CMD 121P 1x12 combo with the DB and it definitely fits your parameters.

I owned a mouse a few years ago but sold it. Currently have a Mouse 5 with a high C being built now and should have it in a few weeks. i agree with Jeff that the 4 string model was remarkably great sounding through most amps, but sounded particularly spectacular through the Phil Jones Flightcase combos. It also sounded good through an AI Focus and an EA Wizzy 10, but that's a bit brighter sound than the PJB. Those are fantastic instruments.

Speaking of politically incorrect... I've seen so many great players (both DB and BG) use whatever amp is available and sound great. I think we sometimes lose sight of that. While some may be more appropriate and/or more to our liking, almost any good-quality amp and cab combination will probably do the job. Gear is all well and good, but don't get too into that. The player makes the sound.

Absolutely,
I just provided my bass and Felix Preamp for Gary Peacock, he sounded great. Pro players, have to make all kinds adjustments.

any eden product with everything flat and that pesky "enhance" knob zeroed sounds just like the wood in your bass, but louder. very transparent, with the natural resonance of your bass should sound fantastic. used to be an ampeg man, but had too many break on me. i've dropped my time traveler down the a flight of stairs and thrown it in the snow and it runs like new. the interior chipsets are modular, connected with clipcords, and road-surgery is stupid easy.
