what would be the best soapbar pickup + preamp combo for thrash and death and groove

i have 2 basses built by a local luthier with emg 40 sized soapbars, one is adler and the other one is swamp ash both have a maple top (wanted an all maple body but finding one in my country is a pain in the ass), both have a maple neck and ebony fingerboard and 5 knobs, 35 inch scale and 5 string, im looking for a good soapbar and preamp combo, as the electroncs died on me (rain water breached both my 2 cases while returning from a gig and it went into the input jack and it ruined the electronics).
i mainly play thrash(for example those bands: megadeth, overkill, annhilaitor, anthrax, testament, and i am in a metallica cover band so that incudes them too)
death metal also (death, caniball corpse) and groove (pantera and machine head, white zombie). what would be the best soapbar and preamp combo for me?

here are some preamps i had in mind augilar obp3, emg bqs/bqc, darkglass tone capsule, michalik bp4 with a mc1 or mcp1 or michalik bp-3band (basiclly the spector tone pump with mid control), i thought of the haz preamp but i dont know which one makes good clones (and would be nice if they could add a mid control).

My preference is for P and J over DC. Specifically, prefer the punch of the P over the thickness of the DC.

I like the BTS over the Tonepump. I set mine for the ~2.3k mid boost and I find it more useful than the 6.5k boost of the tonepump. I've never used the Darkglass and haven't used the Augilar enough to have an opinion.

That said, I don't think there's really a right or wrong answer to this. If you look at the list of bands you've mentioned you'll see P, J and H represented in just about every variation available.

actually a lot of them use pj from what i found alex webster and david ellefson did start using emg dc at a certain point so thats why i thought of it as an option, but most of their early stuff was just pj, even pj soapbars

Try a pair of EMG 40PX with a BTS or BQS tone circuit. The P has plenty of mids, and you can shape the tone around them with the tone circuit.
