What's happening with prices of used basses on Kijiji/Craigs List??

Admission: I'm a bass hoarder. By the time that my newest bass is liberated and in the trunk on it's way home I'm already scouring Kijiji (much improved Canadian version of Craigs List) for my next acquisition.
In the last eight years I have purchased way more than 125 basses (and multiple amps and pedals to boot). (I'm sitting somewhere over 80 at this point in time ... most are from Japan as well as American Peaveys from the 1980s).
In the last two years I've only purchased about 3 or 4 instruments.
There may be several forces at work. I've got mostly everything I could desire that is anywhere in my price range (I typically like to spent $500 or less but there have been a few exceptions).
But I feel like the asking price for 80's instruments has sky rocketed the last couple years.
I used to drive a couple hundred miles for bargains but these are far and few between now.
It seems that the inflated asking prices on Reverb and EBay have been reflected on Kijiji now as well.
People list the same instrument again and again with ridiculous asking prices month after month.
Has the economy improved that much that a guitar I could buy 5 years ago for $300 is now really worth double that?
I guess that good news may be that all the money I "invested" may actually be recouped one day when I turn sensible. Although I've never really thought of these instruments as a real investment like art or coins. Just as an investment in having fun.

Japanese basses as an investment? Maybe it's a better strategy than investing in cryptocurrencies, but maybe marginally, but whatever helps you sleep at night.

I felt very depressed yesterday when a guy at work told me he bought 50 bitcoins for $10 and sold them for over $1300 each. Somewhat less depressed when I realized that I’d added an extra factor of ten in there at some point and it was as $60k+ not $600k plus he made.

whoo, you need medication...........:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:
If I wasn't married, I'd be right there with you. She bought me a gun cabinet last year and said that when it was full I would have to sell one to make room for one. I've got 2 guns and 7 basses now. Guess I'll have to sell my shotgun.:bassist::bassist:

I always ask $150-200 more for my gear on reverb then what I post it for on Craigslist because in reality i don’t want it to sell on reverb, id rather sell it in person for cash and be done with it. However the last 3 I’ve sold all sold on reverb for hundreds more then the Craigslist price. Maybe it’s not that prices are doubling but less people are dealing with using Craigslist .
