I mistakenly won an evilbay auction and wound up with a mid-80's(?) 200MB. Really really like the lush, gorgeous tone and I want more.

I play out in a moderately loud rock band in pretty much exclusively small venues but I am in the process of branching out into jazz/folk. Weight and portability are concerns.

I am looking at the MB112 and MBP112 together because this would seem to fit the bill volume, weight, and, hopefully, tone wise, and gives the flexibility of using/not using the MBP112. Fits the bill price-wise, at or under $1,000. Also, my positive experience is with GK combos.

Not wedded to this particular GK product, please share any experiences/suggestions.

I just started running that exact same rig - one classic rock band, one country band. Friday night semi acoustic country gig - the MB112 by itself was beautiful. On Saturday nights classic rock gig last night the two together easily took care of business without me even bothering to plug into the pa subs. Great tone. Super happy with the pair - tone, weight/ergonomics, flexibility, and cost are all fantastic. My biggest suggestion is to decouple the units from the floor. I used a milk crate as an amp stand - the cabs have no tweeters, so you do benefit from getting them up off the floor
