Double Bass Who is this bassist?

Very interesting! He is plucking the strings with his RH thumb on the passages that it isn't anchored to the fingerboard. You can clearly see this on his solo during the first tune. I wonder if this was common technique during the early swing/big band era. I know some early Nashville country bassists played in a similar fashion. Something else to take to the shed...

After two years, he switched to the double bass under Prof. Victor Kaihatu, who taught him his special thumb technique.
