Who's the best bassist you could replace today?

I know there are players of all abilities here so I'm just curious...who's the best bassist you could replace today if your phone rang and you were called up to the big leagues?

I'm just a beginner so I'm ineligible.

For now....

Replace as in step in for them on tour and cover their bass lines or replace as in writing and recording withe the band a being a good fit (musical fit, no accounting for personalities)?
In the first instance, I could replace Duff McKagan simply because I'm a huge GnR fan and know most of their stuff (not just the radio hits) by heart.
In the second instance, perhaps Adam Clayton only because I think we both come up with simple but effective bass lines. I think he gets more crap for this than he deserves though.

I didn't consider both those aspects. What inspired this was the story of Pete Townsend calling for a drummer out of the audience when Keith Moon passed out from horse tranquilizers. So I guess I was thinking of the prior, but I like the latter as well.

So I guess you could go with either...or both. And thanks for the response!

It wouldn't surprise me if The Edge wrote Clayton's parts for him.
